Professional Summary

Dr. Tippawan Liabsuetrakul is a Professor of Obstetrics and Gynecology at Prince of Songkla University, Southern Thailand. She received her MD and PhD in Epidemiology in 1993 and 2002, respectively. She worked as obstetrician & gynecologist and faculty staff at the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology from 1997 to 2008. In addition, Dr. Liabsuetrakul had attended short-term training in International Community Health in 2007 and Optimal Allocation and Economic Evaluation for Health Resources and Health Technologies in 2007 and 2010, respectively. She has experiences in international consultancy on healthcare reform and reproductive health, evidence-based medicine, maternal and newborn health surveillance system,   proposal development and data analysis in several countries including Bhutan, Cambodia, China, Indonesia, Malaysia, Myanmar, Maldives, Mongolia, Nepal, Sri Lanka and South Africa.

Dr. Liabsuetrakul has served as the Head of Department of Epidemiology since 2011 and as the Director of the WHO Collaborating Centre for Research and Training on Epidemiology since 2012. She received the 2011 Outstanding Royal Golden Jubilee Alumni Awards, the Exemplary Researcher Award of Prince of Songkla University 2012, the Exemplary Award for Academic Services of Faculty of Medicine 2016 and Outstanding Thesis Advisor of Prince of Songkla University in 2019. She has served as a reviewer for more than 25 peer-review international journals, and has published more than 90 articles in international journals on topics related to maternal   health including cesarean section, preterm, postpartum depression, syphilis, postpartum hemorrhage, pregnancy-induced hypertension, emergency obstetric care, soil-transmitted helminthiasis, nutrition, anemia, antenatal care or delivery care; adolescent health such as contraceptive use, adolescent pregnancy, or equity; communicable diseases such as tuberculosis, HIV/AIDS or dengue; non-communicable diseases such as diabetes or cardiovascular disease; quality of care; cost estimation and health economics as well as health system and services.
