Q: Please introduce yourself and tell us about your studies, research, and/or interests in epidemiology
A: I am Md. Mostafizur Rahman, a master’s student in Epidemiology (International Program) at Prince of Songkla University, Thailand, under the TUYF Scholarship. My research examines the effect of water-logging on water, sanitation, and hygiene (WASH) conditions in Korail slum, Dhaka, Bangladesh, with a broader interest in climate change, health equity, and disease prevention in vulnerable communities.
Q: Why did you choose PSU for your graduate studies in epidemiology?
A: I chose PSU for its strong academic reputation, experienced faculty, and focus on real-world public health challenges in Asia. The program’s mix of rigorous research training and practical fieldwork matched my professional goals.
Q: Your Research Interest:
A: I plan to work in public health research and policy, focusing on climate-resilient health systems and WASH. In the long term, I hope to pursue a PhD and contribute to evidence-based solutions for vulnerable populations.
Q: Future Academic Goals:
A: The TUYF Scholarship has been instrumental in enabling me to pursue my master’s degree without the financial burden that often hinders students from low- and middle-income countries. It has allowed me to fully dedicate myself to my coursework, thesis research, and skill development. Beyond financial support, the scholarship has connected me to a network of peers and mentors across Asia, fostering collaboration and exchange of ideas that have enriched my academic journey.
