About the Scholarship

The PSU-Faculty of Medicine International Student Graduate Scholarship (TUYF Charitable Trust Fund), or 'TUYF Scholarship', is a merit-based scholarship awarded to scholars from low-and-middle-income countries in Asia to study in the PhD (Epidemiology) program at Prince of Songkla University, Hat Yai Campus in southern Thailand. The TUYF Scholarship Program seeks to develop livelihood in low-and-middle-income countries (LMICs) through creating manpower for health and development, and hereby encourages qualified candidates to apply.

For the PhD (Epidemiology) Program

1. Master's degree in health professions (e.g., medicine, public health, nursing) or other related fields, with one of the following demonstrations of a high level of academic achievement and research potential: 1) Successful production of a good Master's level thesis, and/or; 2) Publication in an indexed peer-reviewed journal

2. Pass an officially recognized English language examination with the following scores or higher: 1) TOEFL (paper-based score of 530 points or higher, computer-based score of 183 points or higher, internet-based score of 72 or higher), or; 2) IELTS (overall band score 5.5 points of higher)

3. Good knowledge of research methodology, epidemiology, biostatistics and computing

4. Citizenship in a country in Asia classified by the World Bank as being Low-income or Middle-income

5. (Optional, but a strong advantage) History of public service, volunteerism, or the commitment to work in the country of origin or other LMICs upon graduation

Fund covering

1. Tuition fee in the amount of 180,000 baht/year for academic year

2. Living allowance :

- Ph.D. leval 10,500 baht/month for 24month

3. Accommodation 24 months of stay (12 months during Year 1 and 12 months during Year 2) not exceeding 6,900 baht/month

4. Airfare for the actual costs not exceeding 37,500 Baht/ trip (2 years of travelling to PSU)

5. Scholarship covers tuition fee, living allowance, health insurance, and research support

6. Health and accident insurance coverage in Thailand not exceeding 13,500 baht in annualpremiums

7. Research budget not exceeding 120,000 baht for your entire duration of study

8. Field work not exceeding 7,500 baht

9. Publication fee not exceeding 141,000 baht

How and When to Apply
Applications must be submitted online at https://grad-mis.psu.ac.th/admission/home.php

The required documents (10 items) must be uploaded via the PSU Graduate School website for the committee to review. The applicant must select "Others" as the Source of Funding and enter "Apply for the TUYF Charitable Trust Fund: Research Capacity Building through Education and Networking on Epidemiology in Asia"


Scheduled dates:

  • 10 December 2025 - 28 February 2026: Application period
  • March 2026: Decision made by committee
  • End of March 2026: Announcement of successful candidates
